Resident Student Support Counselor at Indigenous Student Resource Center

The Student Counseling Center hired Ibi, a student counselor with an indigenous background, in February of this year. Ibi is a graduate of the Department of Social Work at National Taiwan University and has expertise in student counseling. It was decided in the end-of-semester meeting that Ibi will provide on-site services at the Indigenous Student Resource Center every Tuesday. Students in need are encouraged to make full use of this resource. For those who prefer to receive counseling in a different location due to personal reasons, such as concerns about their indigenous identity being recognized by others, they are welcome to directly email Ibi to arrange a meeting at his designated college or at the Student Counseling Center.

The following details are provided for reference:

  1. Contact information for the student counselor: ibijohn@ntu.edu.tw / (02)3366-3366 ext. 27074.
  2. On-site hours (@Indigenous Resource Center): Every Wednesday afternoon from 13:00 to 17:00.
  3. Target audience: Indigenous students within the university.
  4. Service mode: Consultations can be arranged through email reservations or walk-in appointments. For walk-in consultations, the student counselor will determine the order based on individual needs.
  5. Making a reservation through the Student Counseling Center does not imply that the information discussed in the consultation will be shared with the Indigenous Student Resource Center. The student counselor will discuss with the student and decide, based on the student's wishes, whether assistance from the Indigenous Student Resource Center is needed.
  6. The existing counselors at the Indigenous Student Resource Center, Kanme Mavaliw and Cauv Taiyayan, will continue to provide support and resources for indigenous students. Students are welcome to seek counseling from them during times when Ibi is not on-site.
